Flowers bisexual (perfect), actinomorphic.
Calyx modified into an operculum; operculum conical.
Stamens numerous, in several whorls; anthers dithecal.
Ovary inferior; ovule placentation axile.
Fruit:
Fruit cylindrical to suburceolate; glaucous; 6–15 mm long; 5–10 mm wide; valves 4; included.
Seeds numerous.

Habitat:
Planted and occurring sporadically at least on Oʻahu and Hawaiʻi. Not recorded as planted by state forestry.
