Preserved_Specimen Leaves whorled in 3's; some leaves were removed at petiole base to facilitate pressing. A large sphinx moth was seen visiting the Cyrtandra in this vicinity. Short darting flights were made between the large flowers of C. calpidicarpa & C. hawaiiensis, and insertion of the insect's proboscis into the corolla throat was visible. The cauliflorous inflorescences of C. kaulantha was not worked, apparently because of their position close to the ground.
