| 1 | Vaccinium calycinum × Vaccinium dentatum × Vaccinium reticulatum | Alakai Bog Trail, Kikee State Park | Preserved_Specimen | If a multiple species crossing is possible between Vaccinium dentatum, Vaccinium reticulatum and Vaccinium calycinum, I believe may have happened in this individual. Large multistemmed shrub, about 5ft tall and 10 ft wide. Leaves range 2.5-4.5 cm long, some leather-tough and ovate like dentatum, some papery-soft, especially in new growth like calycinuj. Some leaves fairly lanceolate. Leaf margins minutely serrated throughout, mostl poined at the end with a mucro. Flowers are immature but look to be red, greening at corolla tips. Calyx lobes yellow/green, lanceolate pointed at end, longer than typical in reticulatum, but pointer than typical in calycimum. Calyx lobes stay green in fruit and get very long in long/lanceolate. Fruit bright red as in calycinum/dentatum. Some leaves lined in red margin like reticulatum. | Becker, A.L. | 116 | Kauai | BISH | 2019-06-29 |
